the economy

the other day, i was at work and staring into space while playing with packing peanuts (the best free toy other than dirt), and the janitor walked buy and said, 'a penny for your thoughts?'
it made me happy, but i gave him my thoughts for free, because with inflation and everything and my strong belief in socialism, i just felt it was the right thing to do. and my thoughts weren't that great either, so i didn't want to rip him off or anything.
and then i started thinking, people offer me a penny for my thoughts often, and yet they never pay up.
not even once.
if they did, by now i'd at least have a gumball.
and that would be awesome.
and i'd be helping the economy.
from what i understand, buying stuff helps the economy, and gumballs help everything, thus, this would be helpful.
but noone ever pays me for my thoughs, which i give away for free, much like the knowledge of farming from the native americans to the disgusting diseased pilgrims, and we all know how well that turned out for the native americans.
the conclusion i've come to is that if people actually paid the pennies they offered for thoughts, the economy would not be in the state that it is currently in.
i don't know what state that is exactly but apparently not good.
maybe the state of confusion.
that is where i live.
in the olden days, did they offer other forms of currency for people's thoughts?
"a pile of oxen meat for your thoughts?"
probably.

sad

the sad part of being considered sort of an adult is that apparently you're not allowed to laugh at the word "perforated" anymore.
a moment of silence please.

hmm

My friend used to always have this quote on her profile:
"Don't frown because you never know when someone is falling in love with your smile."
I thought this was a happy thought, that people fall in love with me as I walk around and smile, but then I started thinking about it more.
I shouldn't eat, because what if I have food in my teeth while people are falling in love me? Or what if I'm sleeping and my hair is all messed up?
This is why I should only walk around (carefully so I don't trip) smiling and being pretty.
All this so that one day someone can fall in love with a paranoid, sleep-deprived, starving, smiling lunatic.
Yes, definitely frowning is the work of the devil.

i think a lesson people learn too late in life is not to eat salty peanuts and then touch your eye.
i also believe that a loud annoying cell phone ring is grounds for murder when it comes to roommates if the aforementioned phone rings constantly and at inappropriate times throughout the day and night.
an interesting thing about the midwest is that every small town anywhere has at least three churches and seven ice cream shops and absolutely no tofu hot dogs.
i find it fascinating that people will just take things as true just because i say them with confidence, whether or not i just made it up.
you can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time...or maybe we all are fooled all of the time and we just don't know it because we are in some sort of matrix.
what an idea. maybe i should make a movie about it.
the problem sometimes is that i assume that other people can logically follow my train of thoughts.
for example, if while driving by large oil pumpers i happened to start talking about how we don't really know if dinosaurs weren't plaid colored or tie-dyed, it should not be considered random.
obviously those large oil pumpers look like prehistoric creatures that make one think of all the things that dinosaurs could have looked like, and the bone structures that we see in the museums, and why aren't we allowed to touch them or try to ride them? and this thought process logically leads to the conclusion that we have lots of dinosaur bones but not dinosaur skin or school pictures, so they could be more than just the green and purple we picture and package them as.
so duh, dinosaurs could have been floral patterned.
maybe everyone else just thinks too narrowly.
